GAME CHEATS
Level Select and Debug mode:
Level Select: Put Sonic 3 in the top,and power on. Start a No Save game with any character, run to the first vine you see, grab it, and press: left, left, left, right, right, right, up, up, up, start, A.
The game will start press up at the main menu and select Sound Test, Level Select will appear, the character that you play as appears under Angel Island, press C to change it, 00 is Sonic & Tails,
01 is Sonic alone,
02 is Tails alone,
03 is Knuckles alone!
Debug Mode: Do the level select code as above, choose either Sonic and Tails or just Sonic and go to Mushroom Hill 1,
Ignore Knuckles hiding his master emerald and run to the first pull-up machine: then press: left, left, left, right, right, right, up, up, up, you will hear a ring sound press start, then A, when the game restarts go to level Select and Hold A+Start on the level you want to play to acticate debug mode in that level
In the Level:
Press A to reverse gravity,
Press B to activate debug mode,
Press C to Jump,
When debug mode is activated:
Press A to scroll through items,
Press B to deactivate debug mode,
Press C to place that item.
When paused:
Press A to restart game,
Press B to run Slow Motion,
Press C for Frame Advance

GAME CHEATS
to access level select on sonic and knuckles without inserting sonic 2 or 3 choose sonic at the title screen run to the first pull-up machine and instead of pressing down press: left, left, left, right, right, right, up, up, up, you will hear a ring sound then pause and press A, the game will restart at title screen, choose character, instead of pressing start, press start+A, level select will appear

Play at Night when Linked to Sonic 2 or Sonic 3
For Sonic 2: Activate level select (19, 65, 9, 17) and hold C and press Start.
For Sonic 3: Activate level select (Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up) and hold C and press Start.
Level Select when Linked to Sonic 2
At the title screen, press Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. You should hear a ring. Next, press A + Start to enter the Stage Select screen. This code will remain in effect until you turn off the Genesis.
