Mega Man X4 Mini-Boss FAQ

Having trouble in the middle of a mini-boss on a Maverick stage? I'm here to
help you on your quest to advance you to the evil Mavericks of Sigma and the
Repliforce. Plus: my recommended Meverick order on which Mavericks to defeat.
And best of all: no more legal stuff! You can post this FAQ on any game site on
the internet. OK, enough talk. Time for the FAQ!

Recommended Order

Before we start, let's take a look at my recommended order. First, let's take a
look at the Maverick map below:

MAP KEY:
WS=Web Spider
CP=Cyber Peacock
SO=Storm Owl
MD=Magma Dragoon
JS=Jet Stingray
SM=Split Mushroom
SB=Slash Beast
FW=Frost Walrus

WS CP SO MD
JS SM SB FW

This order is for both Mega Man and Zero, no matter who you play as. Just use
Mega Man's weapons or Zero's sword techniques.

1. Web Spider
2. Split Mushroom
3. Cyber Peacock
4. Storm Owl
5. Magma Dragoon
6. Frost Walrus
7. Jet Stingray
8. Slash Beast

Now you know where to go. Just fasten your seat belts, put on your helmet and
let's get ready to kick some mini-boss butt!

1. Hover Beetle (Split Mushroom's stage)

Now this one will be easy or hard, depending on your gaming. You see those
blocks you're standing on? The beetle will charge vertically at the block
you're standing on. I would recommend the bottom left and right blocks or the
center block. Whatever, choose your fit. When the beetle crashes through one of
the blocks you're standing on, use the Lightning Web or Charge Shot (Mega Man)
or the Triple Slash (Zero) to damage him greatly. Do this every time he crashes
through. Just be careful not to touch the spikes on the bottom of the screen.

2. Camera Orb (Storm Owl's stage)

This can be a real pain in the nose with small enemies that shoot HUGE energy
beams. As you battle the orb, destroy the energy beam enemies on the bottom and
the center. To damage the orb, wait for the orb's door to open, then shoot the
orb with the X-Buster or the Z-Saber. You should also use the Lightning Web if
you're playing as Mega Man. As you kill the energy beam enemies and damage the
orb, you're good to go.

3. Icy Hand (Frost Walrus's stage)

This mini-boss actually has two forms: the hand and the ricochet ball. The hand
is the easiest. When the hand is open, hit the red gem with Charge Shots or
Triple Slashes. The hand will also turn into an oval and move to the aiming
side and turn back into the hand and you can attack him again. But beware: the
oval can also "belly flop" on you and cause some icicles to fall. HINT: When
the oval is ready to fall on you again, go under one of the remaining icicles
and when it falls, move over to an icicle-less area to keep yourself safe and
sound. Now for the hard part: when the hand turns into a ricochet ball, it will
bounce off the floor, walls and the ceiling. Its first fire is the X-Form. Go
beneath the ice ball and after the shooting is done, move out of the way. The
next fire is the Cross-Form. Do not go below the ice ball during that fire. It
will damage you. You can still damage him at its red gem during the ricochet
form. Keep damaging him and he's down for the count.

4. Spike Stabber (Slash Beast's stage)

You'll see the stabber on the engine rail-car at the left of the screen. Mega
Man should stay at the right of the screen and well, uuhh.. shoot the spikes!
With a little help of your trusty Charge Shots, of course. And don't forget to
dodge the spikes as well. Zero should go to the spikes and slash the crap out
of them. Also, to quickly kill one of the spikes, you'll have to destroy the
side of the engine car where the spikes emerge. I got this tip from the Mega
